Bowles recently told the Senate Budget Committee that he is really concerned the nations grave fiscal woes are being ignored. One sign of the growing deficit problem: The Treasury Department reported that, in March, the federal government spent eight times the amount of tax revenue it collected. This debt and these deficits that we are incurring on an annual basis are like a cancer and they are truly going to destroy this country from within unless we have the common sense to do something about it, Bowles warned.

Is this man insane!? Is he single handedly trying to destroy the FF party? He should be removed NOW!

Of course, his political opponents were blind to deficits under white presidents... Is the deficit related to hue?

For starters, you can't impeach an adviser.

I am not sure he isn't. I have heard Obama say similar things all along. His analogy on health care is that we have been kicking the can down the road for many years and now we can't kick it any further. He has been talking about how spending is not sustainable for some time now, but he did greatly expand spending to help shorten the Great Recession.

My understanding has always been that the plan was to start reigning in the spending once the economy got going again.

You might think ever increasing spending is Obama's goal, but I don't think that. I think he freaked out when he saw the economic indicators when he took office (look 'em up they are pretty damn scary) and opened the spending floodgates to deal with that situation.

It was a reaction to the situation at the moment, rather than anything he really wanted to do, at least the way I see it.

Besides, everyone knows that budget cuts will destroy America before the deficit gets us.
