and why she can't even be taken seriously.
She is no Condi Rice, right?
As good a lawyer and a politician as Swillary is, she can never compete with Rice when it comes to misleading the public or defending to the end a completely indefensible policy the way Rice did and continues to do with regard to WMD. The way Rice managed to confuse the public between bin Laden and Saddam was masterful beyond anything Clinton could ever do.
Not what I was saying, but Swillary says these pointless things without any support from her or her boss. Arresting someone while complianing that other countries at the same time is just makes you the fool.
How dare this man interrupt Mrs. Clinton's speech on freedom, democracy, and peaceful government protests. After all she's talking about protesting BAD governments, not GOOD governments like the U.S. He should get the chair or at least life in prison for this.
If they do charge the guy with something, he will have an opportunity to challenge it in court and it is pretty certain that he won't be tortured or killed by the police. There is a difference between the US and Egypt and those other countries, even if there is irony about a guy being removed from a talk about protesting the government.
Not a very good job of rationalization .. well they threw him out for turning his back to the speaker .. but at least they didn't beat him?
I would call it more than just irony ... but then again, I'm not trying to rationalize that this was really an isolated incident - heaven forbid it happen to a democrat Secretary of State and this doesn't happen all the time .. and if it did, then of course then the republicans would naturally have done this too, and more often.
BTW - I know the republican party doesn't want to hear a lot of things that Ron Paul supporters say as well - the main stream republican party treated the Ron Paul supporters with disrespect last election and it will happen this election cycle too.
According to Mara Verheyden-Hilliard, attorney with the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund, 1CFor this peaceful expression of dissent, he ended up bruised, bloodied, arrested, and jailed. ..... McGovern was later found to have his arm covered with bruises. The metal handcuffs were fastened so tightly that his wrists were cut and some blood flowed from the cuts.
Now what he did was disrespectful I think to the audience who did want to passively listen to the secretary's speech by the fact he stood up and turned around, I did not hear him verbally heckle the speaker however.
This is hardly an isolated incident. Back in the good old days when Dubya was THE DECIDER, the president was going to give a commencement address and some of the students were planning a protest called 'Turn your back on Bush'.
They planned to turn away from the president while he was talking, surely a non violent and silent protest. The kids were threatened with arrest and to have their diplomas withheld so the protest was called off.
And also consider we live in a country where elected leaders can be shot by crazy people at any time. It is probably safer to get a person acting up away from the politician rather than risk another incident like Arizona.
And my comment on due process was taken out of context. I was drawing a contrast between US justice, flawed as it is, with the much worse situation in most Middle East countries.
For a guy who hated GW and what his administration stood for - you sure do make a lot of comparisons on why it is OK that Obama and his administrations does the same sort of things.
It does kind of support your "New Boss Same as The Old Boss" point of view, but it also supports my point of view that things that were considered acceptable under Bush are considered outrages under Obama. Call it a media bias.
It also supports my theory of conservatives have a 'Heads I Win, Tails You Lose' mentality. I can pretty much guarantee that if Michelle Obama came out for childhood literacy using the exact sames words as Laura Bush used in her First Lady cause, conservatives would scream and howl about Nanny State and blah blah blah Constitution, etc.
Hm, shame we dont see what started this.. From what i do see, if i struggle against the cops trying to escort me somewhere, i'm going to get an ass kicking.. Doesnt matter where, its pretty silly to assume otherwise.
He would have been better off being calm, you can bet the cops dont want a lot of bad press and would do things as quiet as possiable.
So eh, i will wager we dont have the full story. For instance i am reading that this guy an former senior CIA analys..

This guy maybe? If anyone should know not to resist cops trying to escort you out of a political event i would say it him.. Good chance the cops watching him before he ever got there.

Irony can be so ironic at times.
