Try to imagine how much effort the State would have to invest in making sure every pregnancy came to term and how would they differentiate between the 20% of pregnancies that abort spontaneously and a 'criminal' abortion?
The commonsense answer is that while abortion is not a good thing, it is not subject to regulation by the government, since the unborn are not citizens. Once they are born it is a different matter.
I have to say I agree on this one. Government has no business interfering with a woman's choice on what to do with her body.
not that baby should be a "choice" to murder.
So are we going to create a government agency to monitor all fertile women with monthly pregnancy tests to ensure that, should they become pregnant, they carry to term?
I rarely would want the government to do anything, since they have become worthless and have wasted enough of our tax money. How about strictly limiting access for abortions and people might actual take responsibility for their own actions.

I agree that most abortions should be banned, but incest and rape should be allowed if the woman desires it. That is a different ball game than someone who did not take precautions before/during sex. But it still is killing a life, which also will become a victim as it's mother already is.
