right .... we know that all those social security cards are fool proof and can't be falsified.

Well it will be a little harder to clone one of those than to clone a normal Social Security card! Especially if the picture is used as part of the "Biometric Data", clone it and slap a different picture on it and they wont match on inspection! Though a couple of experts did make a new chipped passport for Elvis!

I don't want an ID card I think it is an intrusion that the govt doesn't need.
As far illegal aliens - I am not in favor of someone breaking the law and being in the country illegally.
I am not in favor of police or other govt officials being able to tap some one on the shoulder and ask them for their papers or else I am locking you up.
I am for Immigrants coming into this country legally - waiting according to the immigration policies of this country .. x number of people a year.
I am in favor of working visas so that migrant workers can come to the US and help the farmers and make some good ( better than at least in Mexico ) money themselves and then they can return to their country.
I am not in favor of illegals coming to the US and breaking laws - like stealing, murder, assault and then having to be kept in prison by US taxpayers - the states end up footing most of the bills for this because the feds don't pay for what they are supposed too. I am not in favor of illegals getting free health care - now that gets to be a moral issue - I think that emergency cases are OK .. much more than that though is too much for the States to take care of. I would prefer that the illegal aliens that break the law are sent back to Mexico and not kept in prisons.
I'd prefer that if a person does have a work visa that they are paid properly bu their employer - and taxes are paid.

Al Gore and Clinton already created the Citizenship USA initiative, which put hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens on the voter rolls - so many without any background checks allowing murders and thieves to come into this country and become voting citizens.
Keep in mind these people breaking the law coming into this country can also be bringing in drugs, guns and also other contraband - i can't see how people can turn a blind eye to this.
How can people turn a blind eye to breaking the law in this respect but expect the laws to be upheld for other things ... we will only obey these laws and those ... but not these other ones. Why even have the laws then?
We can rely on our conservative brothers to have it both ways on this issue. Heads they win, tails we lose.
If we do nothing, we are weak on illegal immigration. If we do something no matter what that something is, we are Big Brother.

Deport them, no legal path to citizenship while they are still in the country. Once they are back in their place of origin, they can start the immigration process legally.
Democrats aren't going to go for that, they are pandering to the Latin vote.
Republicans aren't going to go for that, they want cheap illegal labor.
Bottom line, no one is going to vote for this that expect to get campaign money.
BIG government, whether it is the IRS enforcing Healthcare purchases or making one carry a RFD chip on ones person, ---- Big government is loved by the democraps. As worthless as the republinuts are - they would never have the IRS enforce Healthcare or make a person carry a National ID card. BUT, to dems, the government is the solution - not the problem.
