Of course Robertson has always been a charlatan in my view, but this statement of his fascinates me as someone who has studied the Christian faith.
What makes Robertson's comment so interesting to me is that he is spewing nonsense of course, but it isn't even nonsense that has any connection to Christianity in any way I can think of.
And of course his comments are uncharitable and unchristian in their lack of compassion for human life, but that isn't what surprises me or interests me. Pat Robertson has actually downgraded the role of Jesus, because there are sins that the Blood of the Lamb apparently can't wash away, not only for the individual who commits them but for their descendants for centuries to come.
And that is giving him the benefit of the doubt that the devil personally signed a binding contract with every person in Haiti at some point, which Robertson assures us is at "True Story." Well, as true as any anything you will here from this crook.
He's still doing more than most people to give and sending aid the Haitians than most people. He's a huge nut, but at least he still helps out.
What a disgusting excuse for a human being.
