Wouldn't have happened under a GW's watch.
The reason they give is so frickn' lame ... a pedophile is the reason they canceled this .. they could have at least said something like we don't believe in Santa Claus, it's 2009 and not 1954 .. or it was too much money ... it's the Winter Holiday not Christmas ... we support Muslims and not Christians ... no they have to say that they can't keep an eye on peds and they are canceling this for the 'saftey' of children. Phpptt
Of course they went with the 'safety' reason, it's the Democrat's version of the 'terrorism' excuse. The Republicans take our rights away to keep us safe from terrorists, the Democrats do it to keep the children safe from the world. It's all bullshit.
Yeah, that kinds sucks don't it?
Luckily for us, the dems seem to be unable to get their act together in any kind of coordinated way. They aren't the lesser of two evils as much as the less efficient.
Really? So the Democratic partisanship that has been used to pass most of the bills as of late is them not getting their act together? Heaven helps us if they ever do!
Maybe you don't remember back when Bush was president, the entire GOP voted pretty much as a block to support their leader, no matter how good or bad the idea was. And most of his ideas ranged from merely bad to totally catastrophic.
Nowadays, Obama enjoys a larger majority in the House and Senate and most of the discord is within the Democratic Party. (Unlike the Bush situation, no opposition party members are going to vote for Obama's legislation)

So what? It doesn't excuse the current Democrats from voting as a block to support their leader. And for the record, there were some dissidents (Ron Paul, anyone?).

Just like most of the discord was in the Republican party during the Bush administration, and again, some Republican party members have voted for Democratic legislation, just like some Democrats voted for Republican legislation. Again you shade the facts to justify your party's currently outrageous behavior. Are you going to accept those excuses the next time a Republican takes office? Of course not (as well you shouldn't)! So don't expect me or anyone else to accept them now.
There is a difference of proportion.
Many dems voted for outrageously bad Bush legislation, while only a very few GOPers have voted for Obama's clean up of the Bush mess.
In the case of the health care legislation the number of Republicans voting for Obama's agenda were not just single digits, but single individuals.
As for discord within the Republican party, there was very little. Individuals who disagreed with Bush, such as Paul, Sanders, and a couple of others were marginalized or demonized as RINOS.

Perhaps you can explicitly name some of the "legislation" that has been presented to clean up Bush's "mess". I haven't seen anything presented in Congress to do anything different than what Bush has done. Congress doubled the Bush bank bailouts, they bailed out car companies, Obama is increasing (dare I say it, surging) the troops in Afghanistan, and so on. What has changed, other than the face on the TV?

Yeah, and the number of Democrats voting against it? Zero. That's right, according to the vote totals I saw, not a single one voted against it. So how is that any better? Again, you are justify bad behavior by your party by saying the other guys did it! That excuse was old after kindergarten.

Yep, just like the Democrats demonize those who dispute them. Both sides employ these tactics, so all you've done here is show just how much the two parties are alike!
Gramps
They could have at least out sourced Santa to India or China like every other employer does.
