"Attempt this thought experiment: pick any flora that you find unpleasant and try to justify a law against it for that reason alone. Does the fact that certain other people also dislike it, and therefore might not buy your house, change anything?"
Maybe a Corpse Plant?
My 2:
Is mowing the lawn an annoying task?: Yes
Should you have the right to not mow your lawn?: Yes
Should you care for you lawn out of respect for your neighbor?: Only if your lawn is within sight of his property.
Has lawn mowing damaged my hearing?: I've mowed about 3 acres of ground for over 10 years. I've always passed hearing tests.
Do I think there should be a better way than mowing?: Yes. Shade trees and grass designed to grow slowly (or a bed of pine needles). A huge well manicured lawn is not 1/10 as nice looking as a stand of trees...more privacy with trees, too.
I actually enjoyed mowing grass when I was a kid. Loved the smell, loved the symmetry. But now that has passed out of fashion for me. I still want the place to look clean, but I think that are alternative ways to achieve it without a mower.
If I could only afford a decent riding mower as I could buy a good used car for the price of a new mower!
I want lots of green paint and napalm!

Thanks for reading and commenting...and that corpse plant is pretty damn ugly, admitted
Regarding the hearing damage, what I've read suggests that you'd have to be mowing for many hours in a row for it to take effect; ie, mowing for a living with loud equipment...not a serious risk.
Anyways, the purpose of that stat was only to hammer in the other point: mowers are damn loud and irritating...well within the sphere that constitutes "noise pollution" for other decibel sources.

But if your grass is too long, then you can't see all the presents your dog has left you. But wait, your bare feet will find it, nevermind.
