Sounds like he was using a portable unit. Here in logging country we heard similar stories but they fell into much larger chippers, or "hogs", and little was left but red sawdust and bits of, well, bits.
Y'all are forgetting the scariest part. He went in FEET FIRST!! That means he experienced all that pain before he died! Would've been so much better had he gone in head first.
Of course, trying to dislodge a stuck piece of wood with your head brings into light a whole another issue....
Just to clarify, when using the Human Blender for official business, the customer always goes in feet first. Gives him something to think about.
