A man sat alone in the world, drenched deep in sadness.
The animals gazed upon the man and did not like to see him so sad.
They asked him "how can we make your sadness fade?"
The man replied "I wish I had good eyesight"
So the Hawk said "You shall have eyes like me"
He then said "I wish I was strong"
So the Jaguar replied "You shall be strong like me"
The man then said "I wish I knew the secrets of the Earth"
And the reptile said "I will show them to you"
And so it went with each animal.
And when the man had all that they could give, he left.
The Hawk said to the other animals "Now the man knows much and can do many things"
The Deer said "Now his sadness will stop"
But the Owl replied "No, I saw a hole in the man, deep like a hunger he will never fill"
"It is what makes him sad and what makes him want"
"He will go on taking and taking, until one day the Earth will say"
"I am no more and I have nothing left to give"
