I am thinking the Brits spell our words wrong.. and you have to spell them like the Brits on that quiz....
hell, I don't know!! LOL
Um, actually no.
We Brits speak English and hence spell English words. Whereas you Americans speak American and spell American words. Although I wouldn't be surprised if most of the words in that quiz are spelt the same in both the UK and US but as I dont really speak American I can't say for sure...
I am Canadian and we speak the King's english as well...its not about the spelling of centre or colour....some of the questions i.e "How many spelling mistakes are there in this sentence" are skewed to failure. You might see two, but not get the third, and therefore you are wrong.
Plus, this is from the Guardian, how seriously can you take a tabloid?
I think you will find that The Guardian is a broadsheet newspaper, at least it is here in Britain.

Well, after taking the test I checked all the answers in TeX, using a standard UK Dictionary, and the answers the Guardian provided were all indeed correct.
Upon checking these words with an American dictionary, the only difference was the word "judgement" in the fourth question. As such, an American might have thought there were four errors in that sentence and not three.
Otherwise, everything else is spelled the same in British English and American English.

I'm not saying they got anything wrong, but questions can be formed to have a high probablity of failure. There would never be questions like this in an SAT/GMAT/LSAT.
3 out of 10

You scored 8 out of a possible 10
You win a gold star. You have mastered the strange permutations of English spelling and never fail to check a dictionary when in doubt. The other kids probably still beat you up after lunch.
That was a tough test, however, being Canadian and being taught the Queen's English helps a great deal.
You scored 6 out of a possible 10
You win a silver star. You have a good knowledge of spelling and have memorised your rules, but your downfall is that you stubbornly refuse to look up a word if in doubt.
Not bad for a Georgian.
9/10...Texas, beyotch.
0/10 because I refuse to take the test.
I might explain later.
