This is awesome, but I really hope that a Florida-based company will follow suit and save our space coast.
I remember watching, on TV, the first shuttle flight end with a perfect landing at Edward's Air Force Base, holding my breath until the wheels were on the ground, the parachute deployed, and it stopped on the runway.
I remember thinking how impressive of an accomplishment that way.
I think a lot of us are going to be holding our breath on this flight, too, something we haven't done for a long time for a space flight. There is just too much that could go wrong, there is going to be a lot of drama on this flight. I hope not TOO much.
Together, government and the private sector can simultaneously increase the reliability, safety and frequency of space travel, while greatly reducing the costs," a spokesperson for SpaceX said of the impending launch.
I call BS. There is no way that a private capitalist company, with or without government help, can do this or any other job with more efficiency and a lesser cost than solely unionized government employees can. This sounds like some kind of propaganda article to me.
Steamed calling propaganda is kinda funny, but just wait until the Amalgamated Spaceworkers Union hears about him bashing the unionized labor over at the Cape.
