Isn't it more accurate to say that as a taxpayer, you lent the money to GM to build the volt? Money that will be paid back with interest?
That is sort of like buying it but not really.
Taxpayers paid for it .. they don't get to drive it.
The car is too expensive and doesn't go very far on a charge .. clunker - big surprise .. it doesn't do a very good job.
Not sure I get your point, Big T, my bank lent me the money to buy my house, but they don't get to live in it.
GM borrowed the money to stay in business, and they are paying it back. How hard is that to understand?
Can a pundit so easily sway you away from the obvious?
Where does the Fed govt get it's money from ides just printing it up .. from taxpayers. I assume that you are one of the few that do pay taxes to this country.
Pundits dont sway BigT.. BigT sways others for pundits while he blames others and calls them sheep or any other no thought, vieled insult he come up with in 2 minutes.
Kano .. why thank you for the backhanded insult ... or was it a compliment .. you are such a swell and considerate poster. You have added your typical intelligent, insightful and delightful color to this thread.
BTW - I do like the last link you posted .. even though it was really quite some time ago. I'm sure we all at MV would appreciate you insights on other posts besides just political ones. As you know - MV is ALL about political links and discussions - at least for some viewers.
The main effect of this article for me was to look up more info on the Nissan Leaf.
I don't think I could afford the Motel rooms every 100 miles while the Leaf gets a recharge while on the way from Youngstown to St. Paul and back! At least with the Volt I can use it without Gas daily and have the option to take it on long trips if I need to, whereas a Leaf owner has to have a second car or rent one for a trip! I guess you could always fly or take the Greyhound instead though!
Or rent a real car. I don't think the totally electric cars are made to be touring cars. The Prius has done amazingly well as a hybrid.
For $40 K ... I'd get this Nissan 370Z Roadster .. so it costs $44K
That Nissan wouldn't do me much good on my long trips! I would have to rent something like an Impala since I have 2 adults one way and 2 adults and 2 children going in the other direction, one of which needs a booster seat! The Volt would just make it, but be tight for the luggage!
