Thanks for this post, Big T, I had no idea which service pack I had on my XP machine, my desktop. After reading this, I checked and it is SP3, probably because I have the automatic updates enabled.

I don't know why anyone would hang on to SB2, but I am sure some people have their reasons. Me, I can't wait to finally update to a new desktop, one with a 17 series chip and a GB of video memory. The old 'puter is so out of date I have to pause a video for a few minutes to load it up before playing it or it will stop and start constantly.

SP3 is faster than SP2 anyhow! Why anyone would stick with SP2 is beyond me! One way to really speed up that old machine is ditch Windows altogether and go with one of the Linux varieties! I have an old 2.6Ghz P4 with 1GB of RAM and it works just great with Ubuntu 10.04! Though you will have to manually enable a few things after you install as we live in the US with weird copyright laws according to most of the rest of the world! or you could just go with MINT 9 which has all that stuff enabled by default!
