I think Kadaffi (or however you spell his name) was a greater threat to the US and Europe than Saddam. Libya was active for a very long time in international terrorism, the Lockerbie incident being just one example.
Whether the Arab Spring uprising in Libya turns out to be a good thing or a bad thing depends on what happens from here.
Let's hope for the best.

The Lockerbie bombing was in 1988 ...... good talking point .. 
shoot the Scots let the bleeding bomber go back to Libya last year.
