Maybe, but a lot of people are more of a danger to the rest of us when they have a firearm on them.
All it takes is one nutcase to start shooting elected officials to cause some real problems.
Look, nutcases that want to shoot people are going to carry guns no matter what the law is. I would much rather have one on me to defend myself and others if needed.
Yes, it's such a rampant danger, that it has not really occurred.
You should be able to take pictures and carry concealed.
A nutcase isn't going to worry about the law, and outside of DC, building security is a joke for most state capitals.
As for accidents? Here in NJ CCW practically doesn't exist. We had an accidental shooting in the capital building. Why? Because our elected officials thought the law didn't apply to them and came in armed. And, just like their judicial record would tell you, they are pretty much total incompetents.
I had jury duty recently and there were police with metal detectors just like at the airport only more intense, to make sure that no weapons enter the courthouse.
I am pretty sure they do something like that at most State legislature buildings. It seems obvious to me why they do that. There is a police presence to deal with any problems, so why the need to change all that? Will these places really be safer if both police and civilians are armed?
I don't really know and I don't pretend to know, but the idea that more armed people means more safety seems like an unlikely scenario to me.
I think the danger of people being able to carry conceal is more the dumbass who thinks he can be a hero without any training..
When the honest law abiding citizen takes out the bad guy, what happens when the cops only see the part where the good guy shoots the bad guy? What do you think the police will do when they see one citizen shooting another?
