It will be a good day .... when it actually happens

A little belated ...Obama's Promise to withdraw troops in Iraq .... BY ... 2009 ... no comments on Afghanistan and other middle east country's

with Record number of US contractors in Iraq

Some 190,000 private personnel were working in the Iraq theater as of early this year, a new report says.
... those folks aren't being paid by the Saudis and Iraqis either ... take a guess who is paying for them.

I wonder how much this Iraq denies immunity for US troops after 2011

Baghdad says US military trainers are needed past December 31, but will not allow them to be above the law.

Now if you'all had voted for Ron Paul in 2008 .. then we would have really been out of Iraq actually by 2009 and not with over 190,000 'contractors' over there , or who knows how many that number will be at years end time .. oh and Afghanistan .. oh an Pakistan .. oh and Uganda .. oh and ....

I was sure you were going to say that it is one year before the next election and that is why Obama is ending the war now. I know that was my first thought on hearing that the war was going to be over by Christmas.

I did notice that some of Obama's critics, who have been accusing him of hypocrisy for not ending the war when he promised are now criticizing him for ending it. Even Senator McCain said something to the effect that ending the war is a victory for our enemies.

All of that nonsense aside, it really seems time to bring our people home and let the Iraqis determine their own future.

Gramps .. did you see the little fact of 190,000 private contractors ... is this another debate on what you mean by the word 'is'??? I wonder what the number will be after we close all the U.S. To Hand Over Iraq Bases, Equipment Worth Billions .... And it's an awful lot of stuff. "I'm thinking about the size of what was wasted there, and thinking about how what we spent in Iraq was all borrowed," she said. "In a crazy way, what we left in Iraq was our good credit rating."

Apparently the MASSIVE US Embassy In Iraq Will Expand Further As Soldiers Leave

What are you yelling at me for, I was not in favor of the Iraq Attack back when it was cool.

Back in 2003 it was popular to believe that our involvement there would be brief, that it wouldn't cost much, that the oil revenue would pay for it, and that as soon as Saddam was out of the way freedom and democracy would break out spontaneously without any further involvement from the US.

I never believed any of that.

I'm not yelling at you ... I'm just saying I'm wondering how many contractors will be left in Iraq and that with the embassy getting bigger who knows what will really transpire. We really won't be out of Iraq with Obama or Rommney, Perry or Cain in office. I know you were not a let's go take out Iraq supporter.

Right now .. it's election PR for Obama, just as Tricky Dick used the pullout in 1975 .. a year before the election. Of course Tricky Dick never foresaw that it would be Gerald Ford instead of himself running for re-election in '76. Hah, I guess that kind of backfired on him. Let's see how the Nixon playbook works out for Obama.

Actually, the old re-election ploy was my first thought on hearing that we were pulling out of Iraq.

As to the question of when will we be 100% out of Iraq, I will repeat what I said back when 70% of the public was going with anything President Bush said, no matter how unlikely it was...

How long has it taken us to get out of Japan, or Italy, or Germany, or South Korea, after the end of combat operations?

Trick question because we aren't out of any of those places with our military even though the wars ended so long ago that everyone that I knew personally who fought in those two wars is now dead, of old age.

You are wrong about one thing, Big T, Nixon was elected president in 1968 and re-elected in 1972. He couldn't run again in '76 even if he hadn't resigned, in disgrace as they say.

In any case, I hope the public will not be as gullible the next time some politician lays a load of jive on us to start a war we don't absolutely have to fight.
