The government is financed by the poor and middle class. Fifty percent of the federal revenues comes from social security taxes. While the top 10% may pay a majority of income tax because they have a majority of the income. They only pay a small portion of social securiy and excise taxes. Therefore it is the poor 90% that pay the majority of the federal revenue.
