Does not excuse them from taking away our freedom and liberty by exceeding the constitutional limitations for their own benefits to gain power and votes. Or wasting billions to their supporters and bribing other countries with our tax money.
What you are describing is the way it has been in this country for a very long time.
Here is a recent example of the same thing. Florida's Tea Party governor, who used to run a big company that owned hospitals, is requiring anyone applying for State benefits (welfare) to get a drug screen first. The stated purpose is to save the State money which would otherwise go for the purchase of illegal drugs. The program is going to cost over $150 million dollars, which is going to the lab companies that used to be vendors to the governor's hospitals at his previous job.
The amount of money that the State is going to save in the same time period is uncertain, but probably way less than $1 million.
You see how this works? The program is announced with a goal that sounds great to a certain political constituency, saving tax money/fighting drugs, but when you look at it, it is just a sweetheart deal for a totally different purpose.
This is as pure a "Corporate Welfare" program as you are likely to see.
Everyone does this, but you can only see it when the other side does it.
Foreign Aid works exactly the same way. Uncle Sugar gives a grant to some country to buy a certain product, fighter aircraft, soybeans, makes no difference. That country uses the money to buy stuff from some favored company that the government chooses. Blackwater, Halliburton, and many others have benefited from this kind of welfare program.
This is so true. If it weren't for H1B workers, offshoring and undocumented workers where would the US be? Excellent case explaining why wealth needs to be spread and why the federal family should benefit from the profits of the business and be able to vote on stock holder issues even if they are not a stock holder. I know this article will drive many new entrepreneurs to open businesses so that they can support national defense, roads, bridges, waterways, airports, etc. through taxation, unlike what they do not do now. Instead, the slaving 49% of people that do not pay federal taxes for federal services have to haul the financial load.
I think this demonstrates that ANYONE and EVERYONE can be rich if they simply use the same infrastructure and services that rich and greedy people use to get rich and greedy. Progressives should start a business and use the infrastructure the same way rich and greedy people do and have that business generate massive billions of dollars of cash to either re-elect Obama or to provide for the needy and make all the needy rich. It's sooo easy to do. Let's begin tomorrow!

Doesn't everyone in this country benefit from the roads, the bridges, the waterways, the airports, from living in a country where there is at least a semblance of the rule of law, where there is a universally recognized currency, and so on?
Doesn't our national defense protect us all?
Everyone uses the country's infrastructure and businesses use it more than average citizens. The idea that those who benefit greatly from it and have the means to support it shouldn't have to is bizarre beyond belief. Everyone except the craziest of the crazies knows that we need these things, and to have them we have to pay for them.
Is this a difficult concept?
Taxation isn't the government stealing your money. We pay taxes for the most American of reasons. To provide for the common defense, to promote the general welfare, to insure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity.
