I say both, and by the way, the pilot was in his 70's but initial reports said he was 80.

Ignorant comment I'd say.
He was an excellent pilot - there was a malfunction with the plane.
I know three different groups of people who went to this air race this weekend - they are OK, but said it was really crazy. The Reno Air Races is like the Indy 500 - but faster and in the air. I've been to one before .. amazing event.

I've never been to an air race, plenty of the garden variety air shows, small and large. My brother flew a biplane [not the one pictured below] with a friend from OC to the Oshkosh event a couple years ago.

What else can you expect when private pilots are allowed to fly private airplanes that would allow them to escape from the country to pay less taxes or build factories offshore, or crash and kill people in shows and races Ask any country that dis-allows the ownership of private airplanes (and guns) and see if similar tragedies happen there. Guns, airplanes: they are unleashed devils that should be outlawed in order to maintain safety over freedom.
