The oil companies will make their money ... the price of gas is much much higher though. Avg price of gas in Jan 2009 = $1.84 .. price of gas Sept 2011 $3.67 ... and of course withe the floundering economy less oil for the nations industry .. so you might say that Obama's policies has cost you almost $2.00 a gallon .. times 15 gallons a tank of gas ...close to ~ 30 more bucks. Wait'll you have to pay more for electricity next year because they have shut down 5 coal power plants.
We all saw how strangulated the energy business was during the Gulf Oil spill where the White House seemed too timid to even question the obviously misleading estimates coming from BP about how much oil was spilling into the Gulf of Mexico per day.
Here is how I see the relationship between Big Energy and our political system. Obama is willing to let energy companies do pretty much whatever they want, but throws some conservation or alternative energy rhetoric their way now and again.
The GOP is willing to let the companies do ANYTHING they want, even with their own sisters. The Tea Party is different from the other two Parties in that the Tea Party is a wholly owned subsidiary of Big Energy.
So unions are allow to do your democrat daughters and sisters?
I don't follow you. I am not a union guy.
Besides, unions don't have nearly the power & clout that corporations have. The power that some of the unions have had corrupted them, so how much more corrupting is the vastly greater power of the corporations?
We don't have two different sets of human nature, one for liberal and another for conservative. Human nature is imperfect which is why we need checks and balances.
Having checks and balances on power is probably the most uniquely America idea ever. I can't imagine why anyone, except the corrupt and powerful, would want to do away with it.
That is all.
Why the lies? Even after the BP spill premits are still being issued with inadequate protection. Bush was president for eight years and oil production did not go thru the roof because there ain't no oil. Get it, there ain't no oil. It's over with. Time to move on.
I'm not sure how people can ignore the fact that gas has gone up since obama has been in office .. oh yeah ..that's right .. it's all about team red and team blue for some people. When GW was prez and gas went up .. it was the GOP sleeps with Big Oil .. now that Obama is prez .. well .. let's not talk about it.
This country has had crummy energy policies since before the Energy dept was created back in the 70's by Carter .. and it still is crummy and kowtows to corporations - what else is new.
We see how well the Energy Dept and Obama has handled the green jobs .. yeah .. one is being investigated right now by the FBI - the company Solyndra.
Money is money ... Five coal plants have been or are scheduled to close this next year .. this will cost people in the pocketbook as well.
In the mean time ... Canada's Oil Sands Are a Jobs Gusher
The real reason oil price when up is the deregulation of the futures market that allows Goldman Sachs to sell a oil future index fund that always long. As for the five coal plants that aren't close yet they are the ones that are pumping most of the coal burning pollution into the atmosphere. Lots of young and old people will be able to breathe when they are closed. And strange enough that you mention them since they have no effect on the current price of oil and Obama decided not to put the EPA rules in effect.
fropfreak
It must be that bureaucratic strangulation that keeps those poor oil and natural gas companies in record profits quarter after quarter, year after year.
