You mean we would have the highest tax rate if the corps actually paid taxes don't ya steamed? 10% or 80% of nothing is guess what? NOTHING. GE? NO TAXES. MSFT and Halliburton? Now foreign national companies and pay a pittance. Google? Paid less than 100 million on over a hundred billion.
Riddle me this Steamed: Explain to me how it is right, fair, or just, that Warren Buffet's secretary pays more taxes than he does? I have yet to hear a single right winger explain this.
You want to get rid of corporate taxes? Fine first we abolish the military. You have 90 days to get them back to the states before we start selling off the gear. from that point on we will ONLY have a national guard which will be given basic border protection duties and nothing fancier than a gunship, period.
No overseas bases, no aircraft carriers, none of the sacred cows the right wanks off to, all gone. the savings from that will pay for our poor and healthcare while eliminating corporate taxes. Sound good steamed? NSTAAFL you know, and we poor and middle class aren't gonna pay for your war toys.
Oh and too big to fail? Gone. GS and the other corps have 90 days to back back every single dime with 20% interest or they are nationalized. the same goes for the ISPs which got 200 billion to give us nationwide broadband but only gave us the finger. What's 80% of nothing? Nothing. It's not like businesses are debating paying nothing vs paying 35% in the US. They are debating between paying 35% here or some smaller percent elsewhere. Most of it is not because of some tax sheltered location where there's nothing but a shady bank. It's because a big company like microsoft decides to keep a lot of earnings in other countries. Lots of them in europe. We aren't exactly talking about 35% vs 0%, more like 35% vs 28%.
As for the warren buffet bullshit. When he made that quote, he paid 17% on $46 million. his secretary paid 30% on 60k. He definitely paid more taxes. That's $7.8 million vs $18,000 in case you can't do math. I suspect the secretary came closer to incurring and consuming $18k worth of public services than Buffet did $7.8 million.
A zero percent tax is idiotic, but it would prove that job creation largely is not about tax rates. The tax rate can be whatever you want, there is never any incentive to expend money on people you don't need. However, trying out 0% taxes would pretty solidly prove that issue as a load of crap. Rich people will always, often to irrational extremes, engage in behavior where the only result of it that could be categorized as a benefit is keeping money away from the tax man. What we need is to ensure that the low tax option is to hire, build, and invest in something other than shoving money around in a ledger.
As for getting rid of the military to fund social programs, social security medicare medicaid consume significantly more tax dollars than the military. Before we started having endless engagements in the middle east, it was about a 2:1 ratio for just federal dollars. The extra nasty bit is that unlike the military, almost all of medicare and medicaid stick the states with half the bill, which comes out of your pocket in the form of state taxes.
And you can wait for you very own arab spring all you want. Geography plays a huge part in how that pans out. One can argue that when you have large gangs with their own sets of rules, and own command structure, that have effectively taken over neighborhoods to the point that the official government essentially cedes control, you might just have a competing government. You could be revolting right now, but you aren't because the alternative is more comfortable.
Well that sounds like a bad idea to disarmed our nation, but liberals are not the brightness of bulbs in the bin.... I want our taxes back to roughly 1840's sources...
There are countries out there with very low or even nonexistent taxation. Most of them are societies that no one would choose to live in, but they exist.
Here in the good old US of A, we need roads and bridges and railways and airports and healthcare for old people and national defense and teachers & education and police and firefighters and a justice system and support for the infirm or disabled and other stuff like that.
As much as it might suck to pay taxes, it would suck worse to live in a country where they don't have those things because there are no taxes.
And you had a military in 1840 barely big enough to even guard a coast. So if that is what you want? Fine and dandy your military will now be limited to one half of one percent of GDP. That will pay for maybe 50,000 men, no aircraft carriers, those will be sold or scrapped, no bases, those will be sold, and no air force, those will be replaced by a handful of UAVs. happy?

It took 3 months to get from the US East Coast to the West Coast. We could have that again, if we just give up our modern infrastructure. Hardly a sacrifice when balanced against lower taxes, right? 
That is what amazes me about the ring wingers, even the most basic math doesn't seem to be within their grasp. I mean Raygun lowered taxes on the rich, did we have a boom? Nope a recession, time and time again it has been proven, with stats to back it up, that higher taxes on the wealthy leads to growth and more jobs yet all they can say "Give teh rich more MONIES! Nom nom nom"
Well Somalia has ZERO taxes, nothing but pure capitalism, so why don't they move? it should be their idea of heaven right? All they need to do is hire their own police, hire mine sweepers for the roads, hire security and body guards, but that is just the invisible hand at work, yes?
