The truth is that our government has little control over the economy. Or, I should say, there's very little they can do to force it to recover, but they could make it worse.
The government has little control over the economy; the government can't create jobs? I beg your pardon Mr. Vernalax. Mr. President BO's act of passing health care reform has created 400,000 jobs in itself. This goes against all I have ever been taught and all that I teach. Please prove this to me. Why look at all this job creation legislation.
Just think [1] On Saturday, the Republicans had control of the House for 200 days. For 200 days, we have not seen a bill passed, signed into law that creates jobs. In fact, it has been just the reverse.
[1 Always coax progressives to do this, it is not the normal procedure.
But didn't you know the entire right wing is based upon a single mantra..."Give teh rich more MONIES nom nom nom". No jobs? "nom nom nom" riots, people living in tents? why you just need to give teh rich MORE MONIES!
Of course they ignore when you Do give teh rich more monies they do like GE, who were actually given a BAILOUT and used the money to close a plant in NY and send the jobs to India! Now that is job creation by the right wing right there!
But one thing that the Steamed and the Barons of the world can't argue with is the facts. When taxes on the wealthy go up? there is MORE jobs and LESS unemployment. Taxes on the 1%ers goes down? LESS jobs and MORE unemployment.
But no, all you will hear from the right is racist Obummer crap and yet again with their "Give teh rich more MONIES!". Just look how Boner walked out on talks if any mention was brought up of raising taxes on the wealthy. How can they "nom nom nom" if you raise taxes? How can they send jobs to China and India, thus increasing their rate of "nom nom nom"? can't have that now can we?
Mostly I liked the line about OJ looking for his wife's killer
That is a good one, but I heard it a lot after the Casey Anthony trial. The joke is that now that she is free she can go looking for the real killers.
A joke, but not particularly funny.
As for Obama not doing enough to help create jobs, I think the criticism is a fair one but the GOP seems like they won't be happy until all Americans are out of work, with no Unemployment Compensation, no benefits, and no health care.
If the glove does not fit ... you can't convict. Even though we all know he killed his wife.
Gramps
It is history repeating itself. Tax cuts didn't create jobs in 2001 and it didn't do it again in 2009 and 2010. Of course just about every conservative candidate is prescribing more tax cuts to create jobs in 2012 and 2013.
Anyone want to bet it works this time?
