Obama 19s coal tax - New EPA rules mean 1.4 million fewer jobs, higher electric bills
Utility giant AEP says it will close five coal plants to comply with EPA regs
Obama said that he wanted to bankrupt coal producing electric companies
And what has the president actually put forth as an alternative?
There are energy alternatives, but the feds have failed to develop them as the US Energy department has failed to do since Carter started in back int eh 70's. Killing an industry which is economically viable - many states depend upon the mining and the electricity it makes, and the bureaucrat and political rulers in DC have deemed that they would like a different source of energy with nothing really to replace it.
1. Pro-coal industry/anti-regulation editorial with byline The Washington Times (not a person - unless the citizens united debacle bestowed personhood on news corporations in that respect as well) about the big bad EPA.
2. Utility giant AEP says it will close 5 coal plants, take its ball, and go home if penalized for polluting as much as they want.
3. No he did not. The title of the video said it.
Coal is only a few cents cheaper than gas. But it kills tens of thousand every year and sickens hundreds of thousands of people. Plus it reduces the agricultural yield and poisons both land and water. For every $1 we save burning coal we lose $100 burning coal.
According to Energy.gov
Coal is one of the true measures of the energy strength of the United States. One quarter of the world's coal reserves are found within the United States, and the energy content of the nation's coal resources exceeds that of all the world's known recoverable oil. Coal is also the workhorse of the nation's electric power industry, supplying more than half the electricity consumed by Americans. Coal-fired electric generating plants are the cornerstone of America's central power system. To preserve this economically-vital energy foundation, innovative, low-cost environmental compliance technologies and efficiency-boosting innovations are being developed by the Energy Department's Fossil Energy research program. To tap the full potential of the nation's enormous coal supplies, the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy is working with the private sector to develop innovative technologies for an emission-free coal plant of the future. This research and development program is pioneering more effective pollution controls for existing coal-fired power plants and an array of new technologies that would eliminate air and water pollutants from the next generation of power plants. Research is also underway to capture the greenhouse gases emitted by coal plants and prevent them from entering the atmosphere. For statistical information relating to the extraction and consumption of coal and the electricity it produces, visit the Energy Information Administration.
I have being hearing about clean coal for decades now. Just build one damn plant already and do it cheaper than natural gas.

There is more than one way to skin a cat. The president is very smart and we will have our way. By bankrupting the coal industry and shutting down western oil exploration and drilling you will have no choice but the purchase of ARAB OIL
