I did hear that the president pulled some 80% number of the people want to have taxes raised .. WTF did he get that number from.

I did read this past week that Obama is less popular in the middle east than GW was at the end of his term .. shoot even the crazy leader from Iran is more popular than Obama is right now in the middle east.

Here ya go M. Maude_Lynne. These are decendants of the same right thinking people that were loyalists to the English taxation without representation system and would still prefer to be dependent on the British imperialist monarchy.

So, 80% of people want taxes raised is a bit disingenuous?

80%

about 12 seconds in

I think it is pretty clear what he said and what he means.

If you really want a balanced approach, I mean really .. then we are talking tea party movement here .. yeah right - that is not what the means .. who is being disingenuous.

US more unpopular in the Arab world than under Bush

Executive Summary

- After improving with the election of Barack Obama in 2008, U.S. favorable ratings across the Arab world have plummeted. In most countries they are lower than at the end of the Bush Administration, and lower than Iran's favorable ratings (except in Saudi Arabia).

-The continuing occupation of Palestinian lands and U.S. interference in the Arab world are held to be the greatest obstacles to peace and stability in the Middle East.

-While many Arabs were hopeful that the election of Barack Obama would improve U.S.-Arab relations, that hope has evaporated. Today, President Obama's favorable ratings across the Arab world are 10% or less.

- Obama's performance ratings are lowest on the two issues to which he has devoted the most energy: Palestine and engagement with the Muslim world.

- The U.S. role in establishing a no-fly zone over Libya receives a positive rating only in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon, but, as an issue, it is the lowest priority.

- The killing of bin Laden only worsened attitudes toward the U.S.

- A plurality says it is too early to tell whether the Arab Spring will have a positive impact on the region. In Egypt, the mood is mixed. Only in the Gulf States are optimism and satisfaction levels high.

Galup Poll ... it's not 80%

Rasmusen Poll .. not 80%

of course .. Huffpo as those numbers in this article ... gosh who would have thought .. Huffpo. I guess I don't read enough Huffpo, or I would have known this .. probably would actually believe it too if I read all the Huffpo headlines and articles other than the occasional ones I do read.

in a poll taken by PPP which is sponsored by Moveon.org and other progressive groups they have the 80% number

I guess I was wrong ... when you take numbers by a bias organization(s) that promotes democrat ideals and progressive agendas .. you get those numbers .. wow .. really .. moveon.org. I bet those 80% are ready for someone else to pay those taxes .. not themselves.

What he said was...

"80% of the American people support a BALANCED approach. 80% of the people support a plan that includes revenues and includes cuts."

It all depends on what you want to make the statement into. I do think most people want some kind of balance and end to the issue. And i did also read several times that most Americans do support taxing the rich and corporations.

Agreed a balanced approach would be better .. but how much tax increase ,, and on who and how much to cut. Most people want to reign in the federal debt and over spending. Most people want tax increases - but not for them - most people want cuts on programs - but not the ones that they use.

That isn't going to happen unless some serious cuts - across the board, are made. Do you think that is what Obama meant, or is striving for? His record for cuts in the past has not been very suggestive of that.

I bet the whole world would be willing to pay the tab for the US debt so they would no longer have to try to remote control the US government through the conservative global press. You? Otherwise, it is time for a one world government and unlimited credit for both for the government and everybody in the whole world. President BO could sign such a bill requiring unlimited credit for all and The US Treasury could issue the credit cards to every person in the whole world and everything would be free. Just think what it would be like with no more bill collectors and Repugs hanging up the whole world with debt ceiling negotiations. Only Repugs would be stupid and illogical enough to oppose all this free stuff. It is, and always will be, Bush's fault (until of course there is another republican president and then it can always be his or her fault).
