I just learned that Murdoch's people bribed police. Since the News of the World' can no longer complete the story it was working on about police taking bribes, the News of the World's competitor, whatever it is, can cash in on it. Maybe Glen Beck left FOX so he could work on the story.
I am not sure why, but the Conservative Media has a big problem with the 9/11 families, and is on the lookout for ways to demonize them individually and as a group. The phone hacking might be motivated by a desire to get dirt on them.
The most likely reason is a desire to punish the 9/11 widows for taking a lot of money after the tragedy and then not showing what guys like Murdock would consider a sufficiently slavish devotion to a conservative president (Bush) in a post 9/11 world. ( A group of them called for an investigation of 9/11 that Bush really seriously wanted to avoid, for some reason)
Naturally a non-conservative president (Obama) in a post 9/11 world is deserving of zero respect and is rightly slandered at every occasion. That is the Conservative Media way, Fair and Balanced as long as you see things exactly their way.
Maybe the investigation will shed some light on why they are doing this.

The people in the Twin Towers that you describe were not the victims, but the instigators of 9/11. Progressive Professor Ward Churchill explained the situation to throngs of adoring progressive college students before he was wrongly demonized and fired for his left headed thinking that Murdoch was betting on to be good news material. Otherwise, Murdoch had a legal right to purchase and install some of President Bush's and Obama's surplus warrant-less wiretapping bugs. Just as Iran has a right to create nukes. But we would suggest president BO to be in a better/safer position to tap the 9/11 instigator families to see just what they knew. We consider repugs and military communication to be a terrorist threat so we wire their offices and phones frequently. Wikileaks is also a great tool for us to monitor communications to or from 9/11 instigators. Wikileaks are considered a great example of transparency by the transparent White House and transparent progressives. Google is doing a great spy job for us on every search string and e-mail sent or received by Google Mail. Apple is our pal too in this data gathering venture. Why Wikileaks and the president can do it, but Murdoch can't I just chalk up to politics. We certainly agree with the Communist Party on controls on who controls the media. And, we of course feel that tapping of the FF is illegal as an idea the ACLU has stood up and defended.
