I can't believe it...Steamed got something correct! If Bush wouldn't have cut taxes on the top 1% AND started not one but TWO wars (which frankly Obama should be impeached for starting Libya without congressional approval, but then again I still think Cheney should have been impeached over the Plame affair) and blown the Clinton surplus we frankly wouldn't have this mess in the first place!
you can't cut taxes and increase spending, we saw what that did under Reagan. We need to kill the F35 AND the new aircraft carriers, cut military spending by at least 50%, close the overseas bases, bring our boys home, increase taxes to 1955 levels (it was the 50s that were great, right Steamed?) and kill NAFTA as well as the loopholes and tax breaks for those that send our jobs overseas.
Do this and watch this country prosper again, don't? I just watched two local businesses that had a combined total of 150 years just close up shop this week, another 400 jobs gone. In my area the business district looks like Escape from New York thanks to all the buildings left by companies going to Mexico where they can pay pennies and dump raw sewage, and there are many here living in tents because they simply can't find a job.
Those in power might want to look to the east, frankly it wouldn't take much for the USA to have our own Arab Spring. "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants" great words by a great man, and truer now than they were then.
GW was a socialist Republican, as much as Obama is .. just as Obama is a corporatist democrat.
There was NO surplus under Clinton, since we still took in debt every year.
We need to modernize our military, but I agree that many bases should be closed around the world and bring them home. We needed to fight with all our might and not just what was needed, since you will lose every time doing that type of stupidity.
Better yet, we need to bring our federal government back to roughly 1870's and get rid of the illegal and unnecessary departments. Government red tape has done it's fair share of killing off the economy. Freedom and Liberty are far more important to our country than the government "saving" us!
I would think bring back the tax rates to 1850's levels would be more awesome! GW was a poor republican, but still would rather have him running things than BO who is a no talent hack and empty suit at best.
If we get rid of all those 'illegal and unnecessary departments' just think what a field day the companies that pollute would have! There would be flame coming out of every water faucet, radiation from every nuke plant, CO2 belching out of every "clean coal" plant, and brown rivers that catch fire would make a comeback.
In other words, it would be like it is now, only a lot worse.

What companies .. most manufacturing jobs have left the country. Want to work at McDonald's .. great .. want to work in a mine, steel factory light bulb factory .. look elsewhere.
Oh .. you could work in health care - enormous industry in the US or work for the govt - in which so many workers really don't produce much of anything but paperwork .. regulate things like coal industry, oil drilling Wall Street and banks. There is the 'military' industry, which is one of the few industries that the US still excels in - we actually sell most of those products though ... or use them for politicians needs.
All that great regulation that the FDA does and the drug testing that is overlooked so that the profit margin can remain high .. but I digress
