The frigid weather is enough for me.
Union members scream Shame Shame as legislators leave
They are almost as vociferous as those Tea Party People were last year .. except the dems would have handcuffed the tea party folks and taken them outside ... and for sure there would be major news headlines how unpatriotic, disrespectful and ignorant those folks were.
Unions have done a great job bankrupting airlines and car companies, why not let them do the same to Wisconsin.
That's right and what makes these unionized buttheads think they are worth more pay than a person in Mexico or India or China gets?
Let's face it, if union workers for private companies take a huge cut in pay and benefits, there would be a lot more money to spread around for executive bonuses.
And if unionized government workers take a huge cut in wages and benefits, there would be a lot more money available for tax cuts for people making over $1 million per year.
And, really, isn't that what this is all about?
It's about money and control .. the union is losing control of demanding money from the state. These public union members are well paid and will continue to be well paid. They may have to pay more for their health care benis .. welcome to the rest of the world. Maybe they could get an exemption from raising healt hcare costs from obama like so many other unions have.
Here's what Governor Walker's Budget Repair Bill that they're so angry about actually does:
- Ask government workers to pay half the cost of their pensions - still less than private employees pay for their pensions
- Ask government workers to pay 12% of their own health insurance premiums - the national average for the private sector is over 20%
- End collective bargaining for government unions for pensions and benefits. Allow bargaining only for raises that are less than inflation.
- End forced union dues, collected by the state. Union dues would become voluntary.
- Union members get to vote yearly on whether to keep their union.
Take a look at this link from a Wis newspaper .. what is interesting are all the different comments from locals - there are some out of staters posting too .. a lot of rhetoric.
Yes, this was the bill that was voted on today .... there were no internment camps, no swastikas, there were some things that the unions lost, but all their rights weren't taken away. There could be folks that lose their job .. but that is going to happen across the country on a large scale as states are broke.
Anyway, I thought looking a the 'local Wis' paper was interesting .. the name calling and rhetoric from both sides is pretty intense, but it seems to be par to f the times. .. you're either for us or against us mentality.
I did smile at the new word of the week from this political event .. flee baggers .. this term is for the democrat state reps who ran away or fled to neighboring states from Wisconsin so they would not have to vote on the bill. To me this was really ironic on how many were saying they are trampling the democratic process .. these reps were running away from their responsibilities and their duties as reps to the people ... weird stuff.
Resurected
Ahh, 1 more reason to NEVER move to wisconson..
