But they couldn't make policy changes till 2009 and those changes take time for onset of effect.
What you are missing is that the conservative message this election cycle is that the dems haven't fixed the economy that Bush broke fast enough, so it is time to go back to the policies that wrecked it.
Oddly people are buying this load of crap.
Is there any doubt about what would happen if we went back to excessive deregulation? Maybe this time everyone will act responsibly and not crash and burn the economy.
They still avoid tackling the economy for years since their buddies like Freddie and Fanny have been laying the ground work for the housing bubble. They were the three monkeys that can see no evil, hear no evil, or speak no evil.
Gramps is wrong on the conservative message is the Republican message, but bringing the Republicans back to the conservative core is going to take several cycles as we prune the tree and kill the roots of radical leftist that have taken the Democrats to jump the shark.
Sorry the government should pruned to a small plant, since the weeping willow giant that it has become is wasting billions and can't get enough to "drink" (aka tax). Get a job and quit using the government as your pig bank!
Mrs. MacThulu and Gramps are right. Ron Paul caused the whole crash by not acting to stop the GOP suing mortgage companies for racist acts of not giving loans to people who could not afford them.

Consider the obvious .. Dems have been held the majority of the House and Senate since 2007 and held the WH since 2008 .... a FACT that dems and most of the country seem to be missing .. who's been running the show ..not the repubs. Facts is facts. It's a testament that the dems can't take credit for anything positive, because they have even bungled up things more than GW and the repubs did.
