The last time Obama said that wealthy people = $250k a year, the reality turned into more like $125k. Since my wife's income is from her own business, I have tools to keep the money out of the IRS's pockets as in a good year we will exceed that threshold, but it would still reduce spendable household income.
Their definition of wealthy is too flexible. Also, $250k a year in Ohio is a hell of a lot different in terms of comfort than $250k in NJ.
Yeah, I realize that, as my Youngest Sister lives on Brigantine Island right next to Atlantic City and the cost of living there is fierce! Social Security and a GM pension goes a lot farther here in Ohio! Which is really lucky since at times that seems the only things keeping this area going!
Heck, Brigantine is just slightly above middle of the road here. Try someplace like weehawken or hoboken. Frikin expensive!!!!
I wonder what the average family makes in that area compared to the cost of most local housing.
Median household income in hoboken was 107k for 2007 and 86,103 for 2009 (both estimated), median male income is 54,870, median female income is 46,826 (2007 numbers). Per capita income was $43,193 (2000 census data).Current median home price is $908,000. A one bedroom condo goes for about $380k.
Median Household income in weehawken is 50,196, median income for males is 41,307, females 36,063. Per capita income was 29,269 (2000 census data). Median home price jun-aug 2010 was $690,000. A 1 bedroom condo has a median price of $338,000.
Awesome, just awesome, Republicans block middle class tax cuts, Tea Partiers take votes from RINO Republicans, Republicans lose election, Supreme Court turns into socialist dream land and activist lawyers create laws and and dispose of the Constitution, neocons and the country wither away while fighting amongst themselves. The FF plan exceeded our wildest dreams.
I am not sure this is a good strategy. Most conservative voters already think Obama has raised their taxes. Some think he has raised them to intolerable levels and have taken to wearing tea bags on their hats.
The reality of the current plan to reduce most people's tax burden while taking back most of the Bush tax cuts on the upper 2% of taxpayers might as well be written in ancient Greek.
The reality is complicated and hard to accept as fact, while the bullshit fiction is simple and already widely believed.
I think that people can't wait to get to the ballot box to vote against their own economic interests and against the interests of the US in favor of the interests of those who already have most of the wealth and power in this country.
The Class Warfare is over and we lost!
Btw, to answer the question at hand, in my best years I came close to that threshold but not over it. Now, not so much.
get over you poor self, we need to gut the federal government like a fish, since it has become too much like other governments around the world. This country was founded on limited government and personal freedoms rarely found elsewhere, so allowing the feds to control more is a bit against reality. The Liberal wackos and RINOs have ruined this nation's economy for their own benefit and they need to be taken out back to the wood shed.
Really? Because many of the founders were talking about founding an American monarchy. That doesn't sound terribly limited.

How many here make over $250,000 a year and would benefit by the Republican tax stance? I wouldn't, that's for sure!
