Reporters, who are generally well informed about the facts and the issues, but who have little power in media companies, tend to lean toward Democrats.
The power at media companies is at the board room level, and there the tilt is lopsided the other way. Media executives want more deregulation, so that they can command an ever larger share of the market. They favor tax cuts for businesses, especially theirs, and tax cuts for individuals, especially ones in their tax bracket.
This isn't any great mystery nor is it a conspiracy.

That would be fine and dandy except you are ignoring Ted Turner who pretty much matches Murdoch in contributions and even gave 1 BILLION to the UN.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.
