These discussions of whose religion or philosophy is most peaceful reminds me of the old Kung Fu TV show where the main character does nothing but pursue peace and tranquility, but ends up kicking just about every butt in town.
The history of Islam if full of violence and war, just like the history of Christianity and every other one I can think of. We say "Peace, peace when there is no peace."

You have zealots...hell, even Mormons have zealots (I've been dealing with them my whole life), but I have yet to have a Mormon come to my house and tell me he wants to cut my head off for mowing my lawn on sunday or for watching UFC, and just yesterday the Jehovah's Witlesses came to the house and they didn't fly a 737 into my front window, they just left a pamphlet.
Christian philosophy is one of peace. It is the followers of the philosophy that are f-ed up.

The passage you cite is from the Old Testament, the basis for Judaism. Christan philosophy is based upon the New Testament.
The history of Europe tells a somewhat different story of near constant warfare with periods of raping and pillaging in between.
Those are stories of the followers, not the "teachings of Jesus".
I understand that very well, there is nothing in Christianity about the clergy abusing little boys either, but it happens.
Same for all the other religions and philosophies. Human behavior is what it is, teachings notwithstanding.

I think that is overly broad. The radical Islam certainly does suck, but the more moderate variations are no better or worse than other religions imho.
