A lot of bumbling by the BP, Regulations, inspections and the cleanup effort.,
People aren't perfect and will make mistakes, but no need for many of these mishaps and neglect and red tape.
I agree. The actions and inactions leading to this disaster weren't merely mistakes.
Let's see:
1. Obama announces more off-shore drilling
2. Obama lets BP write his energy legislation
3. Obama dismantles all federal inspection of oil rigs
4. We have the biggest environmental disaster in history
5. Obama goes on vacation . . . again
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, now how did that happen???
You really are a douche bag. I am looking forward to you getting banned again.
Sounds more like George W Bush-lite than the wide eyed socialist radical that you have been painting our 44th president to be.
You can't have it both ways (NO YOU REALLY CAN'T!)
Which is it, socialist or corporatist? No one can be both.
I spent a lot of quality time in airports this past week, and prominent in the bookstores and magazines stores is a book by Newt Gingrich, attacking Obama's "Socialist" agenda for America. So I guess Newty is back, rested but not tan, still as pasty as ever, back in the political mix. In my mind, this raises a question. We all acknowledge that having sexual relations with an intern is a douchebag move.
So the only thing more douche-y is the douchebag who, while having sex with his intern, works behind the scenes to get another guy removed from office for having sexual relations with his own intern. The question is, if Clinton is a douche, what is Newt?
That is my first reaction to Newt getting back into politics. The second has to do with categorizing Obama as a 'socialist.' I haven't seen any evidence that this is the case, so what the hell is Newty talking about?
Now 3/4 o the article was about BP and failed federal regulations and 1/4 is about how the feds have done a bad job and could be doing a better job.
Now you go tangent talking about Newt .. all right I'll bite .. I don't like Newt .. I really don't like Clinton either. Clinton had sex with at least one intern when she was 18/19 .. he then lied about it to congress .. he tried to get the intern to lie about it. Newt resigned from his position, but he did marry the gal he was having an affair with .. Clinton was impeached and his ass was saved by a bunch of hypocritical creeps in congress who all said that Billy boy was wrong, but that his action did not raise to the level of impeachment. If these creeps had looked at the evidence that was brought against Clinton, then they should have changed their mind.
I bet you still haven't read the book I've been suggesting that you read for at least a year now. The book was written by a life long democrat who was the lead prosecutor .. Here it is .. for about the tenth time or so I posted it for you Check this out .... Sellout: The Inside Story of President Clinton's Impeachment
While no one came out of the Monica Lewinsky scandal looking good, David Schippers, the chief investigative counsel for the Clinton impeachment, wants to be sure Americans know just who contributed to the debacle and how. A trial attorney and a Democrat, Schippers was hired by Republican congressman Henry Hyde to lead an oversight investigation of the Justice Department, then was redirected to handle the impeachment. The quintessential honest man, Schippers was shocked, not so much by Clinton's actions (which he calls a far-reaching conspiracy to obstruct justice with perjury, lies, and witness tampering), but by Republican and Democratic politicians who sold out the impeachment process.
I checked the book out from my library a several years ago. I read the story from the chief investigative counsel and am not just blowing hot air out of my back end like some people might when talking about Clinton's impeachment investigation. I double dog dare you Gramps .. no .. I triple dog dare you. You might enjoy it because it rips up Repubs just as much as it rips on Dems.
I really lost faith in many creeps in this book and many are still in congress today. That is one reason why I say to vote 'em all out.
I was watching some of the Ice Road Truckers marathon, while doing a work marathon this weekend. I found it interesting that the Canadian ice road truckers who traveled to Alaska to work the ice road there had to deal with a lot of regulations.
Guys with 25 years experience driving on ice had to take a mandatory week-long training session, which included a driving simulator. They had to pass tests, then get drug screened, then get their trucks loaded up, after which they had their trucks impounded and inspected for safety on the ice. One truck was too heavy on the back and had to add counterweights to the front of the truck before it was allowed on the road.
In short, these guys had to deal with a lot of regulation and red tape for the purpose of maximizing safety and minimizing the danger of their trips on the ice road. Interestingly, these hard working blue collar guys were working indirectly for the oil industry, which while regulated to some extent, often finds loophole or lack of enforcement which allows them to do whatever they want to. These truckers don't have deep pocket lobbyists to wine and dine the regulators that oversee them, so they are held to a strict standard that energy companies whine and cry about, and try to undermine when it comes time for THEM to deal with safety regulations.
High standards are fine for those who have no alternative, but part of a environmental whacko mentality when directed at them, and they have a logarithmically greater potential for damage than those little truckers.
Truckers don't have radio talk show hosts or elected politicians that will try to get them out of any safely requirements that they don't want to comply with. We can all see the results.
