I loved the part about If they wanted to get the supplies in they could be inspected and allowed in... but the activists didnt want to deliver inspected supplies... wonder what was mixed in?? morter shells? rockets?
There's plenty of reasons the activists didn't want to have the supplies inspected and Israel handling the delivery of the aid. Probably the biggest is politics, it makes a much bigger statement to actually run the blockade.
Then there are practical considerations, such as rationing by Israel of just how much aid is allowed into Gaza each week and what is actually allowed. I'm not really a huge fan of the UN, but their position is that 15,000 tons a week is well below what is needed in Gaza. Also, building supplies such as concrete are usually confiscated according to news reports.
I have absolutely zero love for Hamas. If they were using the flotilla as a way to smuggle in weapons for use against Israel, then I'll be among the first here to condemn the activists. Until then, I can't really see any harm in getting food, medicine, and building supplies into an impoverished area.

I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't a few martyrs in that bunch who didn't mind dying for the cause. Why was only one of the 6 ships fired upon .. maybe because they were the only ones that took the fight too guys with guns. I'm not saying that there wasn't another course the soldiers could have taken .. but should they have let themselves get pummeled to death and these guys were looking to provoke an attack.

The convoy of ships allegedly trying to bring aid to the Gaza Strip was organized by a group belonging to an officially designated terrorist organization.
Can't really blame them for fighting back, Israel illegally boarded them well outside of Israeli waters. I can't really blame the Israelis for defending themselves when the boarding went south either, but then again, they never should have been there to start with.
If Israel wanted to board and inspect the ships before allowing them to land, that's fine, but they didn't need to send a bunch of jackbooted thugs who weren't even qualified for the jobs of inspecting and crowd control.
Well those "peaceful" protesters proved they were just terrorist supporters....
Or freedom fighters who were tired of being shit on by an oppressive government, depending on who's side you are on. They certainly have a stack of grievances that the Tea Party could only dream of.
