OK, wait a minute. So the government is supposed to micromanage industry? I'm confused. Before, I thought regulation was bad. Can you clear this up for us?

Atleast no one will support offshore drilling for years and years to come... Sure the republicans who have been trying for legal off shore drilling for god knows how long will be happy.
Apparently you don't follow the news...
In the days since President Obama announced a moratorium on permits for drilling new offshore oil wells and a halt to a controversial type of environmental waiver that was given to the Deepwater Horizon rig, at least seven new permits for various types of drilling and five environmental waivers have been granted, according to records.
Shame, i actualy support (managed) offshore drilling IF we have a response set up for a situation like this. From the looks of it we dont.
:Edit: And hammers, you might not know this but a huge chunk of the oil workers are meth heads. Have been for years and years, so it wouldnt shock me at all. But if you go to some random oil drilling site and start giving out UA's.. Well, you will come up with a lot of it. I find it funny though, your support of Bush/ Halliburton and you throwing stones at this. And to even mention a vacation when Bush took more time off then anyone while patting Bush on the back... Well...
I agree, but that doesn't mean shut it all down. It means industry and government need to step up and get it figured out...quickly.
I agree that Obama is not doing nearly enough in the gulf.
but aint it is interesting how all the "big gov. is evil" and the "let the free market rule" crowd is all upset that the gov is not doing enough.
hammers
OK, this isn't funny any more! This administration is a complete, abject failure.
