Yes, I support repealing voting rights! Oh, wait, was there a TV camera rolling when I said that?

The GOP doesn't like the popular vote, since they can't gerrymander that! They can gerrymander a State to the point that even with less than fifty percent of the popular vote they can control State Government, this would let them extend that to the Senate also! No Way!

Actually removing the Senators from parties might be a great step forward for our representative republic, which the states were once represented.

Putting aside the opinion about whether this is a good idea or a bad idea, don't you think most voters would want to retain the right to vote for their own Senators?

I just can't see people going to the poles to vote for a proposition which will take their right to vote away from themselves.

The founders created a decent government, so why mess with their design?

god you are dumb. it was the political gridlock which caused the states to enact the 17th amendment. are you under the impression that political parties didn't exist in the senate prior to the 17th amendment?

nope, but gridlock would be a good thing considering all the BS coming from the Belt way.

You have probably never voted for anyone besides a democrat .. you read mostly left leaning news sites .. at this rate you will never vote for anyone other than a democrat .. everything is red and blue to you ... glad to meet you sheeple.
I've voted for people from different parties - dems included - I am pretty sure that must of the people who post links from the muckraker - can not say that ... I could be wrong.

BTW .. I like the juvenile photo shop of Ron Paul .. you are a good and devout democrat.

these guys are too funny. there's a reason the 17th amendment exists. the senate was barely functioning since political gridlock at the state level left senate seats vacant for months (and sometimes years) at a time. the right wing always wants to set the country back generations. if it were up to them, we'd still be wearing overalls, suits, and riding horses to work.

There is a case to be made for repeal of the 17th amendment. I am not too sure I really agree with it - but there is some discussion that could be made. If you were a mind to .. but if your knee jerk reaction is that this is preposterous .. then that is fine, if you don't even consider them rational and call them farmers that have no clue, well .. we all must bow to your logic and wisdom. For someone who calls himself the nationalist, I suppose you really don't believe in States rights.

Why should we repeal the 17th Amendment and forfeit our right to vote for U.S. senators?

The states themselves enacted the 17th amendment. The 17th amendment was not about states rights.
