Great title Gramps .. at least they apologized. They were buttheads.

Seems like when some nuts on the left did some rioting and vandalizing stores and creating mayhem in Santa Cruz and Denver on May 8th you wanted to blame the commies - not just some ill behaved buttheads.

I don't remember anyone standing up and apologizing the the mess they made in Santa Cruz and Denver.

They removed pro labor teaching material .. replaced it with the constitution .. man that is some rough stuff there Gramps .. what's next .. the the Bill Of Rights .. the Declaration Of Independence ..man what radicals they were.

"And one of the collages had a picture of George Bush standing at a podium, and he had no eyes, and it says 'I can see evil' and it shows him throwing all these different things into a trash can, like the word 'peace' and these types of things," I'm pretty sure no one would deface a president like that .. I've heard some people say here in MV over and over .. it is only those nasty ol' racist republicans and tea partiers that do things like that to Obama - no democrat WOULD ever do anything like that to the president of the Untied States

What these Republicans did was wrong and disrespectful .. however .. when the democrats do it ... it is called what'?? When you have people dissing each other because if what party they belong too or what their beliefs bad things can happen .. evil begets evil. What is bad is that many people don't see what they are doing .. they wouldn't treat their friends this way but since they are some one from a different party it is OK to treat them like they are fascists ... The GOP doesn't like it when people have jobs ...

Where did it say repubs replaced material with the constitution?

Republican operatives also rifled through a closed cardboard box containing copies of the US Constitution, donated by the American Civil Liberties Union.

It sounds like the CLU provided copies of the constitution, not the repubs.

True statement .. my bad, I misread when reading the article.

I did not see the posters either - only described as

But Chapman acknowledged that he and others were disturbed by some of the posters they saw in the room, several of which he said obviously were made by professionals, not students. He described some of the posters as anti-American, anti-free enterprise and anti-religion.

This certainly does not excuse these peoples actions, but might explain their childish motivation.

Heaven forbid that the kids learn a little history.

Evil, a healthy alternative to goodness!

I seem to remember recent outrage at the state of Texas what they were teaching their kids ... no one is asking what the kids are learning in this school. Last time I went to school in Texas (4th -> 8th grades), the constitution was talked about and taught. Religious themes were not taught either - although we did have a Christmas vacation instead of a Winter break, but I digress. It would be interesting to see what these posters looked like in this school in Maine.

As I said, this does not excuse their actions.

Mac, teaching history is one thing ... from what perspective history is taught can be the stickler. Can teachers be unbiased and not inject their own political views or at least try and be balanced when teaching history. Ahhh, that is human nature to inject one's own opinions and keeping that to a minimum would be the mark of a good teacher.

That is exactly what they want to teach them! A little History, very little history! When they replace Thomas Jefferson with Calvin, in American History, you have to ask yourself, "What is going on here"!!

Thomas Jefferson is spinning in his grave at the current state of American politics.
