More likely is that the Tea Party movement grew out of the insurance lobby's efforts to prevent health care reform. It is also obvious that Fox News played a critical role in publicizing the Tea Party events and maybe helped in other ways to get the tea movement going.
Certainly some parts of it were spontaneous, but those were overshadowed by the more corporate financed and run aspects.
The tea bags are a very visual and media oriented part of the campaign but kind of silly since taxes haven't actually gone up much in a long time.
No, the tea party movement began long before heathcare was in the spotlight. They were a response to TARP 1 and TARP 2.
Yes Gramps taxes have not gone up THIS year. To say they are not going to go up with the recently passed legislation and our government's refusal to cut spending to nonsense. The impending tax increases are the reason for the movement.
I don't think that is totally true. Whenever these people are interviewed they seem to think that there have been massive tax increases since Obama came to office. The same was true the last time a Democrat was elected.
I have a vivid memory of listening to a religious program on the radio (the only thing I could pick up on Alligator Alley), where a caller to the program complained about tax increases from Bill Clinton. I remember this because I had to pick up my Day Timer to check the date. It was in January 1993, but before the 20th. Clinton hadn't even taken office yet.
There are some conservatives that associate Democrats so strongly with tax increases that they just assume that the two go together all the time, without necessarily checking to see if it is true.
I am pretty sure a lot of these people feel like their taxes have gone up since last January.
It all depends on who is doing the editing of the interviews .. suffice to say .. the stations and news sites you and Kano and Lamparty visit so frequently do not put the Tea Party members in very good perspective .. I keep posting sites that have better movies and better interviews .. but for some reason you guys don't frequent them
No they have been around since 2007 Tea Party Ron Paul 2007
They just shoved him out of the way and took over!

That's a misleading title which certainly isn't true. I have no doubt that the GOP has jumped on the bandwagon of the tea party movement and are trying their best to benefit from it, but they sure didn't create it nor do they organize all of the events that happen around the country.
