I assume that this guy actually believes that Birther nonsense, so given that, what responsibility do the people who perpetuate this myth share for this guy's professional destruction?
I have yet to hear a Republican come out and say that there is no doubt that Obama was born in Hawaii and so is qualified to be president. I have heard many say that they think that is the case, but that there seems to be some uncertainty.
Well there isn't any uncertainty and pretending that there is just encourages the crazies and those who have drunk the Birther Kool-Aid like this poor guy.
Why spend millions to hide a birth certificate? Not very tough to produce that document.
He is a decorated veteran, a very smart man .. call him a fool if you want - apparently he feels differently than you do - with conviction. Perhaps you might be ignoring a few facts about this that he is not willing to slough off. I bet he doesn't exclusively read TPM and Huffington, those sites do tend to have a limited perspective on such things as this..
I saw this article and thought I would post it only because Gramps is convinced that only kooks, rednecks and imbeciles have an issue with the legal evasions that have been employed on this issue.
It's still sad though. Just because he's a doc and a decorated vet doesn't. apparently, mean that he's not a kook or imbecile. Hopefully not a redneck.
Because he has a different opinion than you does make him a kook or an imbecile .. what ever happened to 'being able' to have a different opinion from some one and not be labeled a kook or an imbecile.
I understand your point of view, but the fact is the people in charge of the Hawaii birth certificate program say O was born here and they have the official docs to prove it. That's all the further it goes. Continued denial amounts to delusion.
While I agree with you, don't you think it would be pretty easy to just make the damn thing available to shut them up? Same thing with his school records. Why lock them down? It just adds to the BS.
They have. Again and again and again.
I haven't seen anything official released. To the best of my knowledge, the only things that have been released were a few fake ones from Kenya and an "official statement" from the Hawaiian records folks say "we have seen it, it does exist". I may be wrong, but I haven't seen anything legit one way or the other.
There was the one that the State released, which is just like the one you might get for yourself, which is not the original, but a State certified version which vouches for the original.
Each State changes format and so on for their stuff, so if you send off for one, it won't look like the original, it will look like whatever they are doing now. It is just as valid since the State you were born in vouches for it.
This version for Obama has been all over the internet since early in the election cycle. At the time some people were refusing to accept the State copy saying it wasn't the original.
It is hair-splitting on a Clintonian level, if you ask me. (I have seen the State copy myself on various websites and it is positively underwhelming to look at. Okay, the dude was born in Hawaii on a certain date in 1961, whatever man)
because a certificated document can be verified and can't trust the people in charge if they won't produce a document that should be required to become President.
As Cmassaro mentioned he did release it in 1998. It didn't matter though since the critics just claimed it was fake.

A court of law could easily decide this issue if it was heard.
Yeah ... long time no see Vernalex
Yeah, but those damn judges keep throwing out all our the lawsuits.
Oops. Facetious - was I doing it wrong? I think the birthers are basically just a bunch of racist loons grasping at straws with their insane lawsuits . But that's just my opinion.
Judges and the court a liberal conspirecy remember.
That and its a gov institution which we just cant acknowledge until someone we closet support is runing things again.
Especially those Bush appointees!
A Bush appointee tossed out the most recent birther lawsuit in Georgia.
Kano
So, this guy is willing to throw away his status, retirment and benefits for a pipe dream... Smart.
