The CBO analysis of the proposed health care "savings" is not an opinion.
yep, old bo is going to rape american for his hope and change! now they come for your fish poles!
Hey, why argue when you can both be wrong.
From the actual CBO doc.
For the nongroup market it estimates a policy for a single person as $5,800 under the plan, and $5,500 under current law. For families it would be $15,200 under the plan, vs. $13,100 under current law.
small group market (small employers).
single under plan = $7800 family under plan = 19200
under current law 7800 and 19300
For large group market (i.e. insured at work or some other way of joining a large pool).
plan single = 7300 family = 20100
under current law single = 7400 family = 20300
CBO says that the small market group might have 8-11 % government subsidy for about 12% of people in the group.
nongroup plans rise so badly because the minimum permissible coverage increases over the average nongroup plan.
For the other two groups, the minimum permissible coverage decreases.
So depending who you are, you get less coverage for the roughly same money, more coverage for more money, or less coverage for less money. The last group being the smallest of all.
So I come up with a plausible claim of a $2100 price increase if you go by the difference for a non group family plan, and a maximal savings of $2311 for fully subsidized small group family plan.
Probably the most accurate statement is that you get worse coverage for negligible savings or forced to buy more expensive insurance.
The whole article is in the "opinion" section, IE the propaganda section. Also known as the twist things to fit the view you like section.. Its one of the big probs with the news today, all these lame opinion propaganda shows on both sides need to go!
Kano
The opinion section just annoys me, passing off as factual news.
