When it comes to addictions, I'd say sexual 'addiction' is about the most harmless there is, unless it transcends to the perverts that like children. If there are X amount of consenting adults in a room, and whether or not they choose to wear a mask, there is nothing wrong with it when they all start copulating at random.
What if I have sex with a committed partner 4 times a day, is that addiction or do we both just have high sex drives?

Used to be 4 times per week....now its 0 times. Damn post pregnancy hormones ruined my happy fun.
In my opinion, something isn't truly an addiction unless you become physically ill without it, i.e withdrawals. I don't consider intense cravings to be the same as being addicted to something. They compare it to alcoholism, but I've never heard of someone being sick or even dieing from not having sex, while there are some cases of extreme alcoholism where the withdrawals from it has killed the person. I'm not saying that sexual addiction doesn't carry similarities to that of a drug addict, but I don't think that someone will be getting cold sweats, diarrhea, and vomiting because they haven't gotten laid in an hour or two.
That's just my uneducated opinion based on personal experience.
There probably is a real syndrome or two that drives people to have many multiple sex partners.
Tiger Woods had a wife and about 15 mistresses. That can't all be due to sex drive. He could have had sex more frequently with fewer partners if that was all there was to it. It seems to me that some people are driven to have many partners while others are driven to have many relationships.
Tiger didn't just bang this other women, he had complex relationships with them.
I think both sex addicts and relationship addicts are driven by some psychological need that doesn't really have much to do with getting a sexual release.
In other words, these things can be real, but that doesn't keep folks from using them as excuses too.
