Of course there is a GOP alternative to health care reform. We are living it now and have been since the last reform attempt was defeated by the GOP in 1993.

The number of Americans without health insurance has doubled while executive pay is at an all time high for health insurance companies, so what is there to reform?

Democrats are just trying to give their union and socialists friends control over a large sector of our economy, which will destroy all the medical advancements from happening due to costs, reduce the overhead that unions have created for their retired members on our dime, and control everything in our lives since it might be bad for us. No Thank you. If it don't include tort reform and competitive between health care insurance companies, than it ain't reform.

Tort reform would reduce costs by .2%. You're welcome in advance.

You seem to forget that this isn't just an empty political flame war. There are 40-some million Americans without health insurance, a problem the requires a solution.

To date, the GOP solution has been to let the health insurance industry deal with it, which would be fine if they were making any progress. Since the GOP left it in the hands of the industry in the 90's the number of uninsured has doubled, costs, executive pay, and profits have soared, so it seems the problem is just getting worse.

None of the plans which would throw a significantly larger share of the health care sector under government control are even under discussion, so your comment is irrelevant to the actual facts.

Your anti-government anti-union talking points don't even belong in this conversation. You may as well bring up Death Panels if you want to go in this direction.

why is medical insurance running doctors out of certain states? A bunch of those people are illegals. The death panels will occur, since you really think that the government is going to hand out all that service without regards to cost? hahaaha! right.

Dude, there is already government funded health care. It is called Medicare, and flawed as it is, it is more efficient and better than most private insurance plans.

But don't worry, because most of the new coverage is going to be private insurance anyway. The fear factor for this reform is way out of proportion to the actual situation.

(If anything ever passes) you will see.

Almost every scare tactic I have heard about reform refers to plans that are NOT under consideration by Congress.

There isn't going to be any government run health care, no socialized medicine, no single payer. What there is going to be is more people covered by health insurance of one kind or another. There is nothing to fear here, except that more people are likely to get timely care that they need before it becomes a crisis.

death by a thousand cuts. If you would have scanned the bill to see all the worthless government jobs that will be created by more red tape. worthless means they don't create or do anything effective, plus increase the amount of money they must steal from us to get paid by government force. A welfare of sorts.
