Funny you guys never had a problem when Bush did this. No one who wasn't a loyal Bushie ever got to attend a Dubya event.

Personally I think it is a mistake for a politician to have only admirers around them, regardless of who it is.

No, Bush surrounded himself with wacko right wingers who put our economy into a death spiral. It started with Enron and then the entire economy went nearly the way of Enron. Since last January, BO and his crew have gradually pulled us back from the brink.

You could look that up, it is what actually happened.

It is disturbing to me that a lot of conservatives are giving Bush a pass on the recession, the banking crisis, and the other foul ups and are projecting those failures onto the guy who inherited them, and is slowly reversing them. Blaming the firefighter for the blaze, I believe is the operative expression here.

That statement is an outright lie. Enron was at the height of its malpractices during the Clinton administration. It simply ran out of money during the first year of the Bush administration to continue the appearance of a successful business.

You could look that up, it is what actually happened.

I did, simply read this helpful link here. It tells exactly what you apparently don't want people to know, the truth.

Quite frankly, the Enron problem has nothing to do with any Presidency. Corporations have been flouting the law even since the idea of business was created. Neither Clinton or Bush are responsible for the Enron mess. The problem built over multiple administration and finally collapsed in on itself.

I find it hilarious that you just did the exact same thing with the Enron scandal. You blamed Bush for simply being in office when something bad happened. Obama is no more responsible for the current problems than Bush for Enron. Bush is no more responsible for the recession or banking crisis than Clinton is for Enron. These are long term problems that are caused by the intersection of numerous problems, and to lay it at the feet of any one person is evidence of a simple mind that can't understand the complexities of the world.

What you said is technically true about Enron. It wasn't about the president.

Ken (Kenny Boy) Lay of Enron is supposedly the person who convinced George W Bush to run for Texas governor. Once he was in office Lay and his people helped Bush re-write laws which regulated Enron, and surprisingly enough, those new regs favored Enron over its competitors. Enron prospered, going from a medium sized company all the way to the #8 company in the US, using a complex buying and reselling of energy futures and other stuff very similar to the tricks that nearly doomed the banking system several years later.

So yes, by the time Bush became president, the damage done by Enron to itself was nearly complete. Most of it took place while Bush was governor of Texas? And remember the Bush transition team after he became president elect? A lot of Enron and former Enron personnel on that list.

The collapse of Enron was a danger signal that Bush's habit of letting companies write their own regulations and generally allowing excessive deregulation was poison in the long run. Sadly, there are plenty of people who just can't wait to make these same mistakes all over again.

Clearly you didn't even read that link, because those statements are also either false or unprovable. Ken Lay supposedly convinced Bush to run for governor? Did he also convince the majority of Texas to vote for Bush, too? And how did lighter Texas regulations have anything to do with the lighter federal regulations? And the accounting scandal? At this point, you are clearly making things up to salvage your lie about Bush being responsible for the economic problems that started when Enron failed.

Let me connect the dots for you.

Enron...Texas Gov Bush...Enron deregulation..Enron growth...Bush seen as good for business growth...Bush gets presidency (Enron involved in Florida recount and transition team)...Enron collapses...Bush pushes agenda similar to the one that killed off Enron for entire economy....Entire economy nearly collapses.

These poor economic times have been brought on by short sighted credit policies - it's been a long time in the making too

.. in the vernacular ... this current administration is throwing gas on the fire instead of trying to starve the fire.

Time will tell and it will be the next administration if not sooner that will have to deal with run away inflation.

Anyone notice how much things have gone up in price the last 6 months . I'm not talking about what the so called inflation index the govt uses ... but actually going out and buying everyday stuff. I fear the Carter days of inflation will be with us soon.

I think this article goes a little far in BO's ties, but he has assembled for sure a left leaning if not way left in many cases entourage .. just as GW did the same to the right .. what did you expect to happen.
