He could be a Chicago Cop if he could learn to drink and drive and beat up women bartenders.

Uh...

People: Don't throw things at police.

Police: Don't ask people to throw things at you.

I was there for the entire ordeal.

The detective was an aboslute a## for how he handled the situation, but in all fairness, his decision to exit the car in anger was not unreasonable, and I'm surprised that he didn't immediately track down the guy who hit him with a snowball while he was on his radio.

Also, while it looks like everyone was having a fun time, there were definitely people (passers-by) who didn't want to have anything to do with it, and I (along with many others), was respectful of that...sadly, the same can't be said for everyone who got involved, and the spirit of the activity was ruined, even before the detective showed his gun.

I wasn't there, but I have to say a lot of that comes across in the video. My guess is that it started harmlessly enough, but the video makes it seem like certain people were throwing snowballs at passing cars and others not involved. My guess is the detectives car got hit by one or more.

However, it also seems like the detective just got pissed off and pulled his gun for some reason (perhaps he got his with a snowball). Threatening people throwing snowballs with a gun is just quite simply poor judgment on anyone's part. I think the officer does need an official reprimand for his actions, but there are probably a couple people in the crowd who should also have been arrested for some sort of misdemeanor offense.

You need only reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in the struggle for independence. - Charles Austin Beard

Was this a protest? Sure seemed to have a lot of cameras out and at one point there was a protest sign.

Never mind looked it up. It was an anti war protest.
