The government is taking over health care only in the rhetoric of those who oppose health insurance reform (really a better name for it!) because they are being paid by the health insurance industry to do so.
I am not aware of any proposal before the Congress which would take business away from existing companies and put that business under government management.
The health insurance industry is largely unregulated and they want to keep it that way, because it suits the needs of the individuals who manage those companies. They don't feel any particular need to serve the needs of the people who pay them to cover their medical expenses, however, and that is the reason we have a problem.
If reform gets passed with the public option it will be game, set and match for the govt. No one will compete with the government run option. I can't wait to see the savings and efficiency of this system.
I did not know I needed pre-natal care, so you are saying that women should get it for free? Wow, your just going to cover it with your own pocket. What a nice guy.
Gramps is full of BS and should read the bill (and it shows with his comments), than come back with where this magic reform won't cause our rates to jump even further. We need insurance reform and it ain't in the bill.
women should NOT pay more for pre-natal care than men do..... I didnt know men needed pre-natal care... is there some new scientific breakthrough about who carries the child to term that I somehow missed???
And that Videocafe out of memory error crap gets old real quick...
I can believe that woman even get mention Senate.

Insurance companies do this sort of thing on different types of insurance from cars, health, life, home .. it's what they do to minimize their risks .. and charge you more money. Is it right to discriminate upon race, religion or age .. the insurance companies do this all the time.
Shoot, everyone has biases against those three things.
A person's sex is discriminated against more than race is in this country in so many different ways.

I can't believe this, I am actually agreeing with Stuart Smiley on something. First, he is absolutely right, women should NOT pay more for pre-natal care than men do. Second, that the health insurance system is really messed up. But this means we need health insurance reform not health care reform. It's the same as 'Hey the car insurance system is screwed up, so let's take over the auto industry.' It is not about helping people, it is about power and control.
