Palin was trying to make some kind of liberal anti-religion point about the movement of In God We Trust to the edge of the new coin.
Fox News was just protecting the Bush legacy from this kind of smear tactic by pointing out that the coin was designed in 2005, far too early to blame on Obama.
Palin is either too lazy to check on the facts or so unconcerned about actual facts that it doesn't matter to her who was in charge at the time. Her audience already knows for an absolute fact that the government is a big anti-christian conspiracy, making it illegal to open a bible in public and so on. No one listening to her is going to wonder if she is giving actual factual information.

The difference is no one here uses them, unless they got change from the Stamp vending machine at the Post Office! We used to have "real" Silver Dollars, but that were worth a heck of a lot more as Silver than their face value, so now we have "Dollar" coins you can't tell from one of those fake looking Quarters!Except i think they made these "Gold Colored", not sure as I have never seen one! 
I see them all the time. But that is mainly because you can order them by the roll from the us mint at face value delivered using a credit card. So it's like free bonus points or sky miles, etc.

Half the time I find myself wondering where the hell all my money is only to realize it's in a dish in coins.
