Yet the rich keep getting richer, and the poor not so much.

But you have to ask...what is that reason?

The poor people I know are lazy and honestly...kinda dumb.

The people I know that are in the 'millionaire' catagory are brilliant albeit not always schooled. They just have what it takes.

By poor I mean everybody but the super rich. Including us hardworking folk who didn't inherit shit and can barely make ends meet as our companies lay off and cut back and those of us who aren't let go have to pick up the slack while the executives have catered lunches EVERY DAY, and the company keeps expanding except the people (cogs?) who actually do the fucking work - whether that is billing, A/P, etc. to keep the fucking machine running...

I'm sorry. What was your question?

I'm confused, the top 1%, who are they? Are we talking about the super rich or the super unfortunate?

The world is like a giant car, were speeding towards a brick wall at 100 miles per hour and everybody's arguing over where to sit..

Not sure, but I have noticed that steamed is very worried about the plight of the super rich.

I wonder why that is?

Because stealing from the rich means death to American business, or the removal of American business and their rich owners/employers to another country as they are doing now. the FF objective is the complete de-industrialization of America and to make the entire US look like like Detroit.

Wasn't Bush well on his way toward accomplishing just that goal, while trying to help business? He lowered taxes on the top earners, and we nearly had a collapse of the American economy.

Maybe, just maybe trying to kill off the middle class to benefit the super rich wasn't such a great idea after all. Maybe we need a middle class too.

Depends on how you look at the data: The AGI for the top 1% went up 14x since 1980. The AGI for the bottom 50% went up 3.7x. The top 1% makes twice what the bottom 50% makes so if the tax rate was flat the rich would pay twice the amount of taxes. So the rich paying most of the taxes is ok since they have most of the money. "steamed" also forgot to mention that most of the revenue collected by the federal goverment is from social security and medicare taxes which is mostly paid by the poor and middle class. Also most corporate income taxes are passed on the poor and the middle class.
