Vetting??? dont mean squat till the confirmation hearing roll.... and someone whose decisions have been overturned 80 % of the time shouldnt have a particularly warm, fuzzy about getting past the hearings.

Uh, oh. We might have a single liberal on the supreme court. Heaven forbid. She could single handedly outvote the seven conservatives, right?

Justices Stevens, Souter, Ginsburg and Breyer are generally thought of as the Court's liberal wing

Generally thought of" and ARE are two different things. We should have 3 libs, three moderates and 3 conservatives, but we don't.

At the time Souter was nominated, he was considered a reliable conservative. He was warmly endorsed by Rush and the rest of the hard Right, while the Congressional dems didn't trust him as far as they could throw him. They looked and looked for something to 'Bork' him on, but there was nothing there.

Fast forward a couple of decades and he is considered one of the court's liberals. It is odd how these things turn out sometimes.

Over the course of history, most justices have tended to lean more towards the center after making it on the bench. Souter clearly crossed lines.

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Back when you-know-who was picking Justices, I wasn't totally happy with conservative bias (if you can call it that, favoring corporations over consumers, cops over citizens, prosecutors over the accused, Management over employees) I recognized that Alito and Roberts were well qualified to be part of the Supreme Court, and had no objection to their approval by the Senate at that time, which did approve both of them by wide margins.

I hope the same goes here, this woman seems to be very well qualified to sit on the Supreme Court, which should be the major issue during her confirmation hearings.

The "Borking" of candidates is part of the shameful past of the Democratic Party, which belongs in the shameful past. I hope the GOP doesn't go there.

A pretty good article about her can be found HERE. I haven't read any of her opinions yet. I plan on doing so upon returning from vacation. She seems like a decent person.

Wow, how insightful! Most previous nominations only considered men.
