While certainly enlightening, I definitely disagree with some of the statements made in the video.
There are a few existences of dictatorships in the world today, but none that really run major countries. Small tribes in Africa, maybe South America, etc. are really run under the control of a single person, despite claims by other countries or the UN that others are in control.
Also, the statement that freedom cannot exist without laws is incorrect. A free society may not be able to exist without laws, but complete freedom includes the ability to commit otherwise heinous acts such as murder and rape. The idea that government makes everyone "freer" is a lie. The government allows people to abdicate certain responsibilities in exchange for money or slightly restricted freedoms. In fact, the video itself explicitly states this in the discussion of a republic (specifically the fall of the Roman republic, "trading liberty for safety").
Overall, however, a fairly impressive talk about a couple of the forms of government in existence, and given what has happened over the past several years (a trend of trading liberty for safety) and what is happening currently (more of the same, plus interference in the economy and a push for welfare programs), it is very applicable to current events.
You need only reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in the struggle for independence. - Charles Austin Beard
