This anti-torture hysteria is getting out of hand! When WILL they learn that our torturing people is totally different from when the Nazis and KGB agents did it? They were evil! Our torture is good! The end justifies the means, right? Human rights are OK, as long as they don't become inconvenient!

No one is going to get upset over stress being applied to a terrorist who knows where the nuclear bomb is going to go off in New York, that is a phony argument.
The vast number of detainees who were mistreated were not terrorists, or at least not KNOWN to be terrorists by the people abusing them. They used the methods that Rummy referred to as "taking off the gloves" which fits your your joke above, on a random sampling of detainees, some of whom were street criminals, some were innocent bystanders, and some were part of the insurgency. The point is that they used these methods indiscriminately, then blamed low ranking service people when they story broke.
They still deny ever using torture, but don't want laws passed that forbid torture. Get it? "We never did it, but don't take it away from us" The Bush Administration in minature; an exercise in misdirection.
Yeah, and the Democrat party is an exercise in lies, lies, lies. The fact is that everyone who took part in the silliness that was Abu Graib was demoted and sent to jail. The general in charge was demoted and reassigned (that ends her career). But that not enough to slow the Democrat lies.
