If it's true, he absolutely should. But as you say, he probably won't.
I think the oddest part of this whole story is that the one person who never wrote anything about this is the sole person that is going to jail. Actually...not odd, sad.
I don't know why you're all making a big fuss about it, he just revealed the identity of an active CIA intelligence officer specializing in WMD's in the middle of a Global War on Terror (and on the brink of the invasion of a country that didn't have any.)
It's not like he lied about cheating on his wife...
But given the Bush Administration's past track record, Rove will probably get a medal and a promotion.
anyone else click this leak just to find out what a "Plame Leaker" is? This is all news to me, or rather would be--had I read it after finding out it about more corrupt whatevers.
I will be very disappointed in President Bush if he doesnt follow through on his words.
"If there's a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is." "If the person has violated law, that person will be taken care of." "If somebody did leak classified information, I'd like to know it, and we'll take the appropriate action. And this investigation is a good thing."
I hope Rove does the right thing and confesses to his wrong-doings.
You missed one. The president also said in a public statement that if anyone on his staff knew anything about the leak of Plame's identity, that person should come forward. Rove didn't, so you can add disobeying a direct order to his other problems with his boss.
But don't get too hung up on this incident. You are about to become a lot more disappointed in this president. He and his people have an ugly side to them. They go after people who oppose them, and when they do morals, ethics, and the law don't stop them from crushing an opponent. I think some of that is about to come out into the open. What they did to Wilson and Plame is just the tip of the iceberg.
So let's review - Wilson lied about how he got to Niger, he lied about seeing a report that didn't even exist at the time, he lied about the conclusions of his own report(!), he lied about what the administration had been told, and his wife, Valerie Plame, specifically sent him on a mission to intentionally debunk a claim, not to find facts or perform inspections. I'd say the WaPo's conclusion is pretty sound on this one.
Don't feel sorry for Wilson, he is a political hack.

I really hope Karl Rove goes to jail for this. Unfortunately he probably won't.
